Gold Diggers on the Up n’ Up

I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a gold or silver leafed ceiling. Even though I consider my style somewhat contemporary with a mod sometimes bohemian twist, there’s something about the glitter of gold or silver overhead that makes me giddy. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t brought up with such grandeur and I associate gold leaf with people not having to worry about the electric being turned off mid-winter (it wasn’t that bad, I’m a self proclaimed Oliver Twist). Why is this recipe a success? It’s a statement that can go mod or traditional (if it’s done well). A recipe for disaster? Trying to make your 1960s Cape into Versailles… keep it real (and on the DL) – use the metallic leaf sparingly for a touch of bling.
