Makin’ the Old New Again
How funny, after I posted my last blog “Mixing Old and New” I fell upon New York Magazine’s cover story “The New Old“. I have fallen in love with taking old antiques or heirlooms and giving them a fresh face. I like to call it Rock n Roll Design for the ‘Burbs.
This week’s feature in New York Magazine is chock full of fun stories about interesting folks who have crafted this “New Old” sense of style.
Some of my favorites from this story:
Babel chair by Dutch design phenom Marcel Wanders ($530 at xo-design.com; available in late 2010).

Vintage chair with painted linen seat by Caitlin Conlow ($375 at Funkiture, 94 S. 1st St., nr. Berry St., Williamsburg)…but I’m a sucker for anything with skulls.

And the Wendy Goodman piece entitled “Neo Victorians” – is about the stylized home of fashion designer Anthony Malat and photographer Jamie Isaia. They remind me of the modern day Adams Family. It’s Chic Unique and I LOVE IT!
