Splurge & Save: Rustic Sunroom
On my show last week I redefined an unused sunroom by giving it a rustic flair. The Dews Family really wanted a log cabin style adult space where they could bird watch, have “card night” with their friends, and show off their collection of antique bottles. But the room was very French Country with lots of bare windows and an abundance of institutional white tile. I brought the outdoors in by creating a warm, comfortable, rustic sunroom that functions as an adult retreat in the comfort of their home. Here’s my Room Recipe!

The Room BEFORE

The Room AFTER My Design
SPLURGES:
• Rug ($450) – textured area rug to break up the sea of cold, white tiles from Natural Home Rugs
• Leather chair ($700) – big, comfortable, brown leather chair for relaxing from Door Store
• Card table ($280) – for card night with your friends from Target

Splurge Leather Chair
SAVES:
• Re-purpose existing wicker furniture set by painting it a deep brown to compliment the rest of my Room Recipe
• Pillows/ Window Valance ($100 for bed in bag) – make valances and slip covers from a bed-in-a-bag from Target
• Matchstick blinds ($10 each) – a great solution to cover lots of windows on a budget
• Ceiling fan blades ($25)- replacing the blades with a darker wood tone from Home Depot
• Build shelves around room perimeter to display collection of antique bottles
• Hi-Lo Combo 4 chairs for table ($40/each) from IKEA
• Homemade birch lamp and candle holders out of birch logs

Loved the show Krista!
I love this rustic decor. I have boring white walls and want to paint with color and make it look more rustic, warm and inviting but this has given me some good ideas. Thank you!
Thanks for visiting Janet! A rustic color palette is made up of colors with warm, often weathered, undertones. Good luck, and please come back and post pictures of your makeover.
Loved this episode! What a great room! Would love to find the leather recliner that looked so comfortable. Couldn't find it on Door Store site. Do you know the chair brand name?
