The Lipton Quiz – Tara-Nicholle Nelson
This is a quiz we give all our celebrity designers and guests. It is loosely based on James Lipton’s Questions from Inside the Actors Studio on Bravo. So… have a giggle and take a personal tour through the minds of our specialists (and now your best design friends)!

Tara-Nicholle Nelson, M.A., Esq. is a Real Estate Broker, Attorney, Speaker & Author. She is also the Founder & Chief Visionary of {RE}Think Real Estate. Here’s Tara’s Lipton Quiz answers:
What is your favorite real estate show?
I have too many friends with shows to name a fave! But, I’m reading a great real estate book right now called The Architecture of Happiness by Alain de Botton, so I’ll name that instead.
What one tool in your business can you not live without?
Laptop – I work and steal WIFI access any and everywhere.
What color turns you on?
I’m a big fan of taupe-y, creamy shades. And greens.
What design style turns you off?
Country anything. Frills, ruffles, etc. – not so good.
What is your favorite room and why?
I love my living room. I live in Oakland – right near a freeway entrance and the BART station. But I live in the hills, so I have these amazing windows with soaring views of hills and an awesome olive (we think!) tree right outside my living room window. It’s also got very clean lines, beautiful hardwood floors, and my collection of 400-year-old wooden Quan Yin figures from China. The feel is serene and clean and lush all at once.

What vintage item are you a sucker for at antique stores or flea markets?
Quan Yins, of course. She’s the goddess of mercy and compassion, and there are all these fabulous stories about her (merciful, albeit mythical) acts. And her Indian counterpart is a deity named Tara!
What is your current favorite Green product?
My $8.95 burlap Peet’s Coffee bag – I call it my Bay Area briefcase.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I have two. I’d love to be an architect. I’d also love to have an organic, hydroponic vegetable farm. I’ll do at least one, maybe both, one day, but for fun more than work.
What profession would you not like to do?
I used to be a litigator. Grateful to have that constant contention out of my life.
If your perfect home exists what top three things does it have?
My family (including the dogs).
My espresso machine.
Room for yoga.
